Hip Hop Producer Mike WiLL Made-It Survived Hit and Run: Praising God and AMG

Mike WiLL Made-It Made it Through Car Getting Totaled

Mike Will Made-It took to twitter with a video of his totaled Mercedes showing the extent of the damage his Mercedes endured in the hit and run that he seems to have survived relatively unscathed. His praises to AMG may seem a little misplaced, Mercedes-Benz has a long track record of ensuring the safety of their drivers and passengers with top of the line features. It seems that Mercedes body crumpling to absorb the shock of the collision paid off as Mike lives to tweet another day. High-profile Hip Hop producer Mike WiLL Made-It uploaded a video of his totaled Mercedes to Twitter after being the victim of a hit-and-run over the weekend. The producer, famously responsible for Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles,” as well as hits for Gucci Mane, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce and many others, posted a video to his Twitter account showing the damage done to his Mercedes. He was thankful that the car absorbed all of the damage though, specifically including “Thank God for AMG” in his message. Writing on Twitter, Mike WiLL Made-It tweeted: “Woke up this morning blessed. Blessed to make it out. Survived a hit n run last night in my 63, Thank God for AMG. Continue Reading

Come 2018 Mercedes Will Release The AMG GT Black

Cool AMG Coupe Coming Soon

Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers had a recent interview with Top Gear magazine dropping juicy hints and details for the upcoming release of the ultra-premium Black series in AMG. It seems the goal of the Black series is to take successful AMG models and push them to perfection with overhauls to make them more powerful, smoother and “balanced” as Moers put it. We can expect the Black series to resemble previous well loved models, with a major tune up from bumper to bumper. A new maximum-performance edition of the amazing Mercedes-AMG GT will hit dealers in 2018, Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers told Top Gear magazine. The new Black Series will top even the incredible AMG GT R announced in June. The upgrade will start under the hood, because even the GT R doesn't make enough power for Moers' liking. “I know the GT R chassis is able to handle more power,” Moers told Top Gear. But this new flagship GT won't just be a muscle car. We already know that AMG can build powerful engines, like the V8 in the 612-horsepower E63, but they are looking for balanced performance from the upcoming Black Series, he said. Continue Reading

The Most Expensive Mercedes

Mercedes-Maybach Convertible Tops Price for a Mercedes

Mercedes has dropped a bombshell with the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet which is going to cost about 300,000 euros (About $320,000 USD) making it the most expensive Mercedes on the lineup by quite a large margin. The new S650 is a souped up version of their previous S65 AMG Cabriolet, but the S650 rebuilds the previous model with fine wood, chrome, 621 HP V12 Engine and a whole array of luxury features that makes it worth the hefty price. Mercedes is taking on the likes of Bentley with a long, sparkly convertible unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet is a very exclusive upgraded version of the already-expensive Mercedes S-class Cabriolet. Only 300 of these cars will be made, and they'll feature lots of gorgeous inlaid wood trim and a loads of extra chrome. Mercedes hasn't yet said how much the S650 Cabriolet will cost in the U.S. In Europe, it will run 300,000 euros, which is roughly equivalent to $320,000. The only Mercedes that's nearly that expensive is the closely-related Mercedes-Benz (DDAIF) S65 AMG Cabriolet, which lists at $250,000. Continue Reading

Mercedes Clarifies Stance on US Diesel Releases

Daimler to Continue Diesel Sales in US

German magazines have spread a rumor that Mercedes-Benz was going to cease the release of diesel engine Benz’s in the US. Well, Daimler the parent company has released a much needed clarification that the rumor is in fact false. Still, Mercedes-Benz has yet to announce what might be coming next, which has left up an air of mystery. Daimler says it hasn’t decided to stop selling diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz models in the U.S., despite a report from a German magazine saying otherwise. Reuters said today that Mercedes’ parent company Daimler denied a report from weekly magazine Der Spiegel, which had said the carmaker would cease to sell such cars next year. “There is currently no decision nor are there considerations to withdraw diesel from the U.S.,” a company spokesman said. Daimler’s sales of diesel cars make up less than one percent of its Mercedes brand’s car sales in the U.S, he said. Continue Reading

Red Bull Team Discusses Driving Mercedes’ Hamilton Off The Tracks

Ricciardo Has Sights Set on Hamilton

For many teams that are not Mercedes, frustration has set in as Hamilton clutches down on the lead for the title to the point that Daniel Ricciardo and his teammate Max Verstappen need to do some aggressive driving to ensure the Mercedes leader doesn’t place anywhere near the top of the board. Too many this is a scandal and unsportsmanlike, Hamilton and the Mercedes team have raced their hearts out to get the lead they have, so is it really a fair race to target and take Hamilton out of the last few races so that someone else can steal the win. Of course not all the Glory lies with Hamilton as the Mercedes pit team are in prime shape, changing wheels out in 2 seconds and keeping that Mercedes engine in tip top shape from race to race. Daniel Ricciardo thinks he and teammate Max Verstappen would effectively be 'fixing' the Formula 1 world championship if they did not attack Mercedes in the final races. Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are locked in an exclusive fight for the world championship, and there has been a lot of interest about the potential influence either of the Red Bull duo could have in deciding the outcome of the title battle. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has even found himself at the centre of a controversy in Brazil over a phone call he made to Jos Verstappen regarding his son Max. Continue Reading

Will Self-driving Cars Like the Mercedes-Benz F-015 be Fun to Drive?

Will Autonomy Take the Fun Out of Driving? For Some, Yes.

As much as we (obviously) love Mercedes-Benz around here, and seeing as we also love to drive our cars, we often think about how much fun self-driving vehicles like the F-015 will actually be. After getting to experience autonomous vehicles and way too much daydreaming about the days we can have one parked in our own garage, we can identify three kinds of people and how they will react to these inevitable autos. First, there are more than a handful of people out there who just absolutely hate driving. Period. Different strokes for different folks, I guess, so it’s understandable that not everyone is going to take as much joy in pulling off a perfect parallel parking move as we might. Still, these are the people that autonomous driving is really designed for. By not having to pay attention to the road while they drive to and fro their various destinations, their presence on the road should also mean safer roads in general by helping to cut down on a significant amount of road rage and distracted drivers. Second, and this is easily the category that we fall into, are the people who get real enjoyment out of being in control of their cars. For them (us), being driven around in an autonomous wheeled robot sounds like the antithesis of a good time. Accelerating and cornering are a blast for this group of people and having a machine handle all of that just sounds boring once you get over the novelty of having your car chauffeur you around for a day or two. The third group of people are those who are going to get the most out of a self-driving car. These are the folks who don’t feel like they have enough time to read (or take in some other relatively inactive activity like use Facebook, play games on a tablet or whatever else) and can truly capitalize on the freedom given to them during those few moments during a daily commute. These people should already be head over heels for the idea of autonomy in vehicles as they’ll likely be able to go from reading one book a month to several. Wherever you fall into this group, though, it is almost a given that commercially available autonomous cars will be making their way onto roads quicker than you might imagine. Now (for this writer at least), here’s hoping that we can swap out the rims on these cars for something a little more conventional and attractive, right?

Mercedes Hits Just Right Size With Metris Cargo Van

Midsize Van with Full-size Capabilities

Mercedes has solved the goldilocks equation with the Mercedes Metris van which is a mid sized cargo van with as much storage and towing capacity. And that’s thanks to the peaked out Mercedes Transmission that was able to be crammed into the spacious Benz while still retaining the ability to be able to park it in a standard size garage. Mercedes-Benz has officially entered into the growing market of mid-sized cargo vans with the garageable Metris. The Metris is a new, right-sized van offering from Mercedes-Benz that is larger than small vans and smaller than large vans. Its value proposition includes superior craftsmanship, high cargo/towing capacity and an attractive price. It is designed to thrive in large metropolitan areas with an agile yet spacious presence. Mercedes Undecided Whether Or Not To Remain In Formula 1

Mercedes-Benz Considering Exit from F1 Racing

Mercedes-Benz has been a contractual member of Formula 1 racing since 2009 where Mercedes decided to join the sport not only as a racing team but as an engine supplier. But their agreement to remain in the sport wraps up this coming 2020 and team boss Toto Wolff says that Mercedes will remain in the sport as long as it continues to develop in a positive way. Team boss Toto Wolff says Mercedes is only committed to Formula 1 until 2020. Mercedes co-owner and boss Wolff told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Mercedes decided in 2009 to compete not only as an engine supplier but also with its own team in Formula 1. We have committed ourselves until 2020, but what happens then is unclear. In my opinion, we will stay in Formula 1 if the sport develops in a positive way." Mercedes' commitment, as well as the other top teams, is in the form of bilateral contractual agreements with the Bernie Ecclestone-led commercial rights holder. Those rights are in the process of being taken over by Liberty Media. Continue Reading

Mercedes Makes A Change To Inline 6s

6-Cylinder Engine Modifications for Benz

Mercedes-Benz abandoned their inline engines back in the 90s when they made a move to consolidate their engine models with interchangeable parts for ease of production. In the 90s V6 engines were the top of the line, but with Mercedes crack engineers they claim to get over 400 horses out of new 6 inline Mercedes engines which we expect to see entering almost every non-electric model from now on. Fifteen years ago, Mercedes-Benz abandoned its inline-sixes in favor of V-6s. “Half of our engine guys were sad when we switched from the inline-six to the V-6 layout,” one of Daimler’s engineers remembers. “Now it’s the other way around.” Mercedes is pulling an about-face, returning to the straight-six configuration for the same reasons that originally had it embrace the V-6. Back then, a common parts and production strategy dictated the switch. Daimler had developed a generation of V-6 and V-8 engines with common parts. (The last remnant of that era is the loosely related 6.0-liter V-12 that sits under the hood of the 600 and AMG 65 models.) Continue Reading
