Mercedes-Benz Truck Spotted During Road Test
Brand New Mercedes Truck Caught On Film
The first sighting of the first-ever Mercedes-Benz pickup truck has finally come with a YouTube video from walkoART who managed to take some sweet footage of the camo textured Mercedes Benz and upload it online for us to see. If you wanted anything like a Mercedes pickup before, you’d have to do some serious suspension overhaul on their SUVs, what a wonderful time to be alive. We've known about Mercedes-Benz's first-ever pickup truck for over a year, but until now, we haven't seen a prototype. That changes today though, because a heavily camouflaged pickup has been captured on public roads in Germany. The truck is rumored to debut by the end of this year, so it's likely production-ready at this point. The video of the truck, rumored to be called the GLT, comes to us from YouTuber walkoART - Videos, who features spy shots of various Mercedes-Benz prototypes on their channel. Even under heavy covering, you can pretty clearly see a Metris-esque front facia. Otherwise, the truck looks not unlike the new Honda Ridgeline. Continue Reading

Mercedes Teams Up With Matternet to Give Us Future of Delivery
One Step Closer to Our Robot Overlords
The Auto-titan and tech startup have teamed up to deliver a concept van that they’ve called the Vision Van. The Vision Van combines self driving technology with completely electric motors and roof mounted delivery drones to guarantee a package could get to any location with 12 miles of a drivable road. Click here and see where a new Mercedes engine could take you. The latest company leaping into the delivery-by-drone business has long been known for performance vehicles of an entirely different sort. Mercedes-Benz DAI, +1.74% on Wednesday revealed a concept car that can automatically deploy delivery drones, developed in partnership with drone-delivery startup Matternet, in which Mercedes announced what it labeled a multimillion-dollar investment. A Wall Street Journal report valued the investment at $562.7 million. Called the Vision Van, the concept car itself, should it ultimately reach market, would require a human driver — but the vehicle’s drone is foreseen executing deliveries at the same time as the driver conducts others. It might also provide a measure of relief from such longstanding delivery impediments as dangerous and overcrowded roadways, though at least in the U.S., Federal Aviation Administration rules currently stipulate that drones cannot fly beyond an operator’s line of sight without a waiver. Mercedes Recalls 62 2016 Cars
Mercedes-Benz 2016 Line Sees a Ton of Recalls
Mercedes-Benz USA has sent out a recall as of September 15th on a variety of 2016 Mercedes vehicles belonging in general to their SUBVs as well as the C300 Sedan, all of which suffer a problem with their ESP control unit which Mercedes wishes to immediately rectify. And as Mercedes drivers, we should understand safety is the number one concern and make sure to update our Mercedes electronic aids safely before any failures happen. Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling vehicles to fix a faulty Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit. The automaker is recalling 62 vehicles of model year 2016 GLC 300 SUV, GLC 300 4Matic SUV, C300 Sedan and C300 4Matic vehicles manufactured February 8, 2016, to May 18, 2016. The recalled vehicles may be equipped with an ESP control unit that may have been damaged before being installed, which may result in unintentionally activate the stability control altering the vehicle's path, thus increasing the risk of a crash. The Mercedes Tour from Hell
Maybe You Should Avoid the Mercedes-Benz EU Delivery Program
While Mercedes-Benz may be the best in regards to the quality of their luxury cards, it seems some customer services have lost their qualities over time and are desperately in need of updates. Rob Enderle has discussed his Mercedes tour in Germany and just how bad it was, but while there were bumps in the road of his vacation, he was saved by the quality of the new Mercedes that he took the trip with. If you’re experiencing too many bumps in the road while driving your Mercedes, click here and consider what you can do to smooth out your ride. I just returned from a trip to Germany with my wife to pick up our new car. If you read the current article on this trip from a Mercedes-Benz sales person it sounds like a drive from heaven but, at least from my experience, it is the drive from hell. It isn’t even a great Mercedes-Benz experience, actually that is a massive understatement, it was a horrid experience. Not only did we not have a particularly great time, you probably won’t get us on another vacation outside of the US, well, ever. So the trip in the article looks amazing, but that isn’t the trip we actually got at all. At one point I literally wanted to take the car back where I picked it up and just go home. New Degree Program for Autonomous Vehicles
Udacity has announced that it has opened the gates for applications to its new nanodegree program that is partnered with Mercedes Benz with the plans to start teaching mid-October and finish 9 months later with the first graduating class of self-driving auto engineer specialists. While it may be daunting to learn the technical fields required to become a self-driving auto engineer, you can start learning more about your own Mercedes engine and how to improve it. Online education company Udacity has formally launched a new nanodegree program today, one that’s aimed squarely at budding self-driving car engineers. Founded in 2011, Udacity is one of a growing number of companies offering so-called massive open online courses (MOOCs) — courses open to an unlimited number of people on the web. It’s big business, which is why Udacity alone has managed to raise more than $160 million in VC funding, to date. There are more than 11,000 people enrolled in Udacity’s nanodegree programs today, and in excess of four million people have enrolled in one of Udacity’s free courses. Continue Reading

Mercedes and the Ever Nearing Future of Autonomous Cars
Wholly Self-Driving Cars Closer than You Think
The autonomous car concept has been a hot topic this year, as more and more people realize that it is something that could hit the market next year if manufacturers believe autonomous models will sale enough. An interview with Joe Mosier from Adsit gave insight on the market outlining the various interest groups regarding autonomous cars and his personal experience with Mercedes “puritans” who are likely to never give up their control of the road. When self-driving cars made waves several years ago, they seemed like a very far off type of fantasy. Well, companies like Tesla and Mercedes, BMW and others have made quantum jumps in technology and safety towards the end goal of an autonomous vehicle. Of course, we have all heard about the unfortunate accident that happened in a Tesla, which was the first recorded death in a vehicle of that kind. Tesla and Elon Musk have long been tickling our fancies about what it would mean to have that much more free time during your daily commute or road trip. Sadly a DVD player was found in the deceased’s vehicle and a truck driver says he saw Harry Potter playing on the screen right before the accident. Continue Reading
