Lake Forest Mercedes Owner Offered Deal Too Good To Be True

Cautionary Tale in Street Repair

A Mercedes C-300 owner in Lake Forest, California heard their deal of a lifetime when two men solicited her to do body work on her car to remove a key scuff for the low price of $700.

When they had finished their work the job seemed well enough done for her to pay the men, but when she went through the car wash, her paint began to flake away to reveal the scam. This should be a grim reminder for all luxury car owners to get all their Mercedes body repair done at licensed repair shops.

LAKE FOREST, Calif. (KABC) —

A Lake Forest woman said she was scammed by men offering to do body work on her Mercedes C-300, but left thousands of dollars worth of damage to the vehicle.

Karin May said two men posed as body shop workers and approached her on July 30 at about 2 p.m. She had some smaller key scratches on her vehicle that she wanted removed.

“One was wearing a Toyota shirt and the other was wearing a Lexus shirt and they said this is what they do for a living,” recalled May. Continue Reading

Mercedes Cars Will Not Only Park Themselves, but Will Find Parking Spaces Too

Ending the Eternal Search (for a Parking Space)

Mercedes has teamed up with Bosch to create technology where Mercedes cars will detect empty parking spaces while driving, and communicate this information to a network so that other Mercedes drivers will have live updates on parking spots saving them time and gas by removing the need to hunt for spots.

On the topic of saving gas, click here and tune up your fuel systems and increase your engine efficiency in your Mercedes.

Life is too short to lap massive parking lots looking for open spaces.

That’s why Mercedes-Benz, along with automotive supplier giant Bosch, announced last week that its cars would eventually be able to detect empty spaces and share the info with other Mercedes cars that are nearby, looking for empty spots. Testing is reportedly underway with new E-Class sedans.

According to Bloomberg, the technology could be ready as early as 2017 and would bring the automaker in line with others such as BMW that are giving drivers the option of locating—and paying for—empty parking spots. Continue Reading

Mercedes Set to Treat Hamilton and Rosberg Fairly in Coming Races

Mercedes-Benz Letting F1 Racers Compete… Kind Of

It seems Mercedes is dead set on not putting all their eggs in one basket as they’ve made clear their neutral stance between their two drivers Hamilton and Rosberg despite Hamilton being two points ahead.

The Mercedes Teams could focus all their power behind the winning racer but it seems they’re dead set on having a second good racer in case any troubles arise.

To feel like a Mercedes racer, check out these sweet new Mercedes engines.

Mercedes technical boss Paddy Lowe says that the team does not have any concerns about maintaining a level playing field for its drivers as the title battle between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg heads towards a climax.

Hamilton is just two points ahead of Rosberg after the German won the Italian Grand Prix, with seven races to go.

But Lowe insists that the team is now used to treating both men equally.

“We’re dealing with that all the time,” Lowe told Motorsport.com.

“One of our big, huge focuses in the team is to work as one, and keep everything absolutely as fair as possible with the drivers, and indeed for everybody to work together for the common interest, which is to get the quickest car on the day. Continue Reading

Mercedes-Benz a Favorite in South Korea

Mercedes Dominates Korean Market

Mercedes has taken the lead in imported cars in Korea, with a strong sweep taking the lead by over 5000 units sold. Previous leader Volkswagen is being left in the dust in the wake of its problematic scandal earlier this year involving its diesel models, which has caused the company to lose trust in a worldwide market which has allowed Mercedes to strike critical wounds on its German competitor.

The oldest titan of the auto industry certainly hasn’t skimped out on the quality of its exhaust and other engineering aspects that has made it the king of the market.

Last month, the aftermaths of the suspension of Volkswagen sales lowered sales of import cars 12% from a year before. In particular, Mercedes Benz sold close to 5,000 units of the new E Class, which propelled the German automaker one step closer to the top of the import car market in Korea in seven years.

The Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA) announced on September 6 that the month of August saw 15,932 new import cars registered, down 12.5% from a year earlier.

This figure is up 1.3% from July. Accumulated import cars sales from January to August stood at 148,411, down 6.5% from a year earlier. Continue Reading

Leaked Information States Mercedes Push for Electric Larger Than Predicted

Mercedes-Benz Truly Interested in an Electric Future

It’s been no secret that Mercedes has been pushing into the electrical market, but new information from Automobilwoch has announced that the 4 already known electric models from Mercedes are just the start of it, and that Mercedes plans on pumping out at least 6 different models by 2018.

While the savings of electric cars is an alluring siren for gas gouged drivers, there is always the option to tune up your engine and exhaust for more efficient use of your gas.

Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler is working on at least six new electric vehicles, as part of a big push to fight back against Tesla Motors and keep pace with Mercedes’ German luxury rivals, according to a new report.

Mercedes’s push into electric cars is bigger than previously reported

Citing unnamed industry sources, German automotive trade publication Automobilwoche reported on Saturday that “more than six” new battery-electric Mercedes-Benz models are planned, including SUVs and crossovers, sedans, and compact cars.

There may be additional long-range compact electric cars under development for Daimler’s Smart brand, the report said. The new battery-operated Mercedes-Benz are expected to come to market starting in 2018. Continue Reading

Mercedes Release First AMG Stamped GLC

AMG Branding Coming to a GLC Near You

The GLC Class cars from Mercedes have always been a little half and half, with a comfortable classy sedan style fused with the utility of a SUV making them a nice balanced mix of Soccer Mom and Middle Class Bachelor. But Mercedes has sweetened the pot with the upcoming 2017 GLC by stamping on the AMG badge and throwing a powerful engine in making this versatile car able to pull 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

Of course the mechanically savvy could always soup up their GLC with a new Mercedes Engine for a cheaper price than buying the newest model.

Addiction to half-coupe, half-SUV models is a very real thing. BMW first fell when it released the X6, a crossover very similar to the larger X5, but with a swoopier rear-end that, while attractive, cut into cargo space and headroom. Mercedes followed with the GLE and GLE Coupe. But BMW did it again with the smaller X3, creating the X4. And thus, Mercedes must do the same, releasing the GLC-Class Coupe.

The differences between the GLC-Class and the GLC-Class Coupe, the base model of which debuted at the New York International Auto Show, are largely cosmetic. Continue Reading

Is Mercedes-AMG R50 Real Life or Just Fantasy?

Hypercar Has a Chance at Production

The question has yet to be answered, but we’re waiting until October where Mercedes is expected to speak further on the details of the R50. Until then we can only look and appreciate the sleek futuristic looks and expected 0-60 in 2 seconds and top speeds of 220 MPH.

It is expected that if reception is strong enough that this car could go into production for the few with disposable income enough to buy themselves a hypercar.

For those of us who can’t afford the newest toys trickling out on the market, we’ll just be tuning our same old Mercedes engines and building our own tricked out ride.

The luxury auto world has been buzzing about the upcoming Mercedes-AMG hypercar being developed to thrash the one in the works from Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing.

According to Automobile magazine the project, known internally as R50, will be a cross between road-going supercar and a Le Mans endurance racing prototype. With a curb weight under 2,900 pounds it will be lighter – and therefore faster – than the McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder.

Power is expected to derive from either a road-converted version of the 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid developed for Formula 1 (above), or AMG’s monster 2.0-liter turbo four, with output expected to top 1,000 hp either way. Continue Reading

The E300 is a Technological Marvel

Benz Makes (Yet Another) Winner

It really seems like people can’t get enough of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300. And who can blame them? Not only is the car a gorgeous piece of automotive design, it’s packed with some really impressive tech to help keep you safe on the road as well as an engine that apparently doesn’t feel like it’s a 4-cylinder.

All things considered, the E300 should be a very solid (and safe) sedan worth buying if you are in the market for something new.

If you’re like us, though, you are probably more interested in making your classic run like new with a Mercedes-Benz engine than trying to buy a whole new Benz altogether.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300 is a remarkably smooth, quick, comfortable and technologically sophisticated luxury car, but a tight backseat and a few bugs in its autonomous driving controls keep it from perfection.

Other midsize luxury sedans are less expensive than the Benz and many offer more standard equipment, but the E-Class has an advantage in quietness, materials quality and available safety technology. Its styling has been updated to match the rest of the Mercedes-Benz lineup, but that may serve only to make it blend into the background.

The E-Class sedan is the workhorse of the Mercedes-Benz luxury showroom. It serves as a personal luxury car, executive transport, taxi cab or high-powered performance machine, depending on where in the world you happen to be. I recently drove a 10th-generation E-Class, an E300, which features a host of new safety systems, a new powertrain, new styling inside and out, and a new level of autonomous driving technology that’s sure to open some eyes. Mercedes-Benz and Metternet Create Awesome Drone Deliver Vehicle

Drone-Launching Benz Vans Incoming

Regardless of whatever your opinion might be on Mercedes-Benz vans (or vans in general), the automaker has teamed up with the new tech company Matternet to design a van that you’re going to have a hard time not thinking is cool. The concept van is packed with drones that are practically fully automated. The delivery driver won’t even have to load them or change out the batteries.

What’s really cool about this van (called the “Vision Van” right now – here’s hoping that changes, eh?) and its flying delivery army is that they can be used pretty much right away… as long as the delivery area’s local regulations allow for automated drone flying, that is.

Even with most of us seeing Benz as a luxury or sporty vehicle manufacturer, the move to build these vans wouldn’t really be out of place. They actually sell a ton of their work-centric vans, and the figures are pretty surprising. In fact, in 2015 alone they ended up selling over 300,000 of their various models.

Though you might not be able to integrate something as science-fictiony as an automated drone delivery service right now, there are still some very impressive Mercedes-Benz accessories worth checking out in the meantime.

Mercedes-Benz Vans and drone tech startup Matternet have created a concept car, or as they’re calling it a Vision Van, that could change the way small packages are delivered across short distances.

The Vision Van’s rooftop serves as a launch and landing pad for Matternet’s new, Matternet M2 drones.

The Matternet M2 drones, which are autonomous, can pick up and carry a package of 4.4 pounds across 12 miles of sky on a single battery charge in real world conditions. Continue Reading

Mercedes Drivers Dream of Self Driving Cars

Mercedes Benz Owners Look to Autonomous Cars

Surveys show that Mercedes drivers are among those who most desire for fully self-driving cars, while drivers of American trucks like Jeep and Dodge are among the lowest interest groups for the emerging technology. Perhaps it is ultra-luxury cars that will be the only vehicles to ever tout this feature, while trucks and SUVs will forever be left in the dark ages of requiring driver participation.

Not looking forward to autonomous cars for yourself? Check out our Mercedes Benz steering parts to keep your car controlling like new.

When you look at other cars on the road, do you wonder which of your fellow drivers are most wishing they were doing something else? In a new survey published this month, the answer is Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti drivers.

The survey, conducted by MaritzCX, asked 12,353 vehicle owners about their thoughts on autonomous cars. As reported in Bloomberg, about 27 percent of Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti owners say that are “very interested” in purchasing a fully autonomous car should they become available. That’s more than any the owners of other brand surveyed.

For comparison, about 14 percent of BMW owners said they were “very interested” in the technology. Ram owners were the least likely to buy a self-driving car, with only about 6 percent saying they were “very interested.” Jeep owners also ranked low, at about 8 percent. Continue Reading
