Mercedes Maybach 6 Prototype Is World’s Most Powerful RC Car
Mercedes Benz Maybach RC Car
We were not expecting to see the Maybach 6 from Mercedes to be presented as it was at Pebble Beach. The massive long, sleek beast was something we’d have expected to be driven about by a professional who’d hop out and run on about how great of a ride it was. What we got instead was what may be the most expensive RC car ever driven.
For those of you looking to create some power in your existing car, click here to check out our available engines.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled its Vision 6 Maybach concept car at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last weekend to great fanfare. It’s a huge, sleek, red gullwing coupe with an electric drivetrain and over 700 horsepower. And now, thanks to this video, we can see it’s controlled by a remote.
Marchettino, an Italy-based car-spotter, caught video of an official using a video game-like controller to move the car back and forth, and even turn the front wheels, all while the actual cabin stays empty. He uses the controls to position the car on the grass, and later, load it onto a trailer with ease. Continue Reading

Mercedes At the Back Of the Lineup with Most Recent Upgrades
A Spa Engine Upgrade Worth 5 F1 Tokens?
Mercedes has gone about with yet more tune ups and upgrades with their F1 racing team, pushing them all the way back on the start-up line. The trend of frequent replacements and upgrades are making all of their races uphill battles, and a lot of the blame is being shunted to under performances by the driver.
Looking to put in an upgrade yourself? Check out our Mercedes Benz engines.
The news comes on a weekend when the German car manufacturer has elected to hand Lewis Hamilton new components because he was running short.
He is currently facing a 30-place grid penalty for the race because he had new parts fitted for both practice sessions that took him over the allocation of five that he is allowed for the season.
With him already pegged to the back of the grid, it is possible that Mercedes may choose to add further new parts to his allocations in final free practice on Saturday.
Customer plan
Mercedes has not specified in what areas its power unit has been improved, but both Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg have been given the new developments. Continue Reading

Mercedes Advertizes Upcoming Cars as Quality Time Machines
F 015 an Automated Massage Car – Yes, Please!
While some people might perk up to anything advertised with Time Machine paired together, Mercedes is marketing their upcoming smarter cars as a means of spending more quality time doing what you need to do while our cars just get more and more autonomous.
In the meantime, make your current Mercedes Benz interior as comfortable as possible – it might not massage you, but that doesn’t mean it has to be unpleasant.
I was quietly hoping Mercedes had an automotive breakthrough of a temporal nature.
After all, the Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Mercedes parent Daimler, was at the IFA 2016 trade show in Berlin to talk about the car as a quality time machine. Unfortunately, the focus was more about a quality time machine.
Zetsche does make the argument that technology will help you wrest back valuable time lost from driving, sitting in traffic and finding parking — especially once self-driving cars become a reality. But that’s not really the same.
Mercedes is just one of many automakers and tech companies working on cars smart enough to drive without any human control. Continue Reading

Mercedes Goes to Digital Marketing for Tennis Season
Benz Trying to Tie Tennis to Their Cars
Mercedes-Benz has released a 2 minute long video featuring Roger Federer who portrays himself as well as many great tennis players over the last 60 years alongside the ever changing Mercedes SL series.
A commercial that exemplifies honor for the great sportsmen of the past and their legacies, as well as hammering in that Mercedes greatness with the longest running history among all auto manufacturers.
For your Mercedes SL, be sure to maintain that gorgeous SL body so that legend will always look its best.
As the U.S. Open tennis tournament nears, Mercedes-Benz is teaming with one of the game’s all-time greats in a humorous ad campaign.
“Timeless” features the Mercedes SL and Roger Federer — in multiple forms.
Thanks to a combination of computer-generated imaging and a camcorder, the campaign highlights tennis history by having Federer perform as stars such as Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi and Bjorn Borg.
At the same time, the videos also feature Mercedes SLs and how the roadster has evolved over the years.
Mercedes began releasing teasers last week on its YouTube channel. The full video (2 minutes, 9 seconds) was initially released by Federer on his Facebook page and is available on YouTube. Continue Reading

Mercedes to Cut 15% of Factory Staff in Brazil
Mercedes Benz Starts Downsizing in Brazil
The Brazilian based factory in Sao Bernando do Campo which primarily focuses on manufacturing of trucks and busses has experienced extreme losses of profits during the declining market state of brazil leading to the current offering of the equivalent of $31,000USD to sign up for the voluntary layoff of 1,400 individuals.
To see to it that your gas mileage doesn’t deflate, you should look into fixing your Mercedes’ fuel system.
SÃO PAULO — Mercedes-Benz, a unit of Daimler AG, kicked off a voluntary layoff program to cut a total of 1,400 jobs in Brazil, amid reduced sales of trucks and buses.
The company, which has four units across Brazil, said that the layoff program will take place at its unit in São Bernardo do Campo in São Paulo state, where there is a total of around 9,000 employees. This reduction represents about 15.5% of that unit’s workforce.
The layoffs will take place until Aug. 31 and the company will offer a one-time payment of 100,000 reais ($31,000) per employee registered in the program, regardless of seniority and age, Mercedes said in a statement. Continue Reading

The First G-Squared Stateside
Can We Get a G500, Too?
The Mercedes G-Squared, or G500 4×4^2 was a behemoth that landed in Carolina Beach to tower over other trucks at an annual off-road gathering and make first impressions. Well it certainly did with its 17” ground clearance and powerful engine and grip on even the trickiest of sands leaving it a show stealer at the show.
Unfortunately the G-Squared will not be showing up stateside until early 2017, but this demonstration was sure to generate interest. For those who’ve already invested in a modern g-wagon and aren’t ready to upgrade, click here for any G550 part needs.
The guy with the jacked-up Toyota Tundra pantomimes snapping a photo, so I pull alongside and peer down, down, at his truck—which is an unusual perspective when you’re next to a full-size pickup with 35-inch tires. I jump out and we both stand there gazing at the seven-foot-tall Bavarian Sasquatch drenched in highlighter-yellow paint and wearing German license plates.
“Man,” he says. “I never thought I’d live to see a jacked-up G-Wagen on Carolina Beach.” Me neither. We definitely won’t see two. Right now, this is the only Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42 on the continent.
You can buy a 4×42, or G-Squared, in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Japan. In early 2017, you’ll be able to buy one in the United States. Continue Reading

Mercedes Unveils Series of Camper Vans at Dusseldorf Show
Mercedes Camper Van Looks to Make Adventures More Comfortable
The luxury car manufacturer Mercedes has in recent years made extreme efforts in diversifying its hold in other car markets, and this is yet another step in that process. Mercedes has revealed a new assortment of modified vans with the biggest one including a kitchenette and full bathroom. Unfortunately, there seems to be no plans for US releases of these camper vans, so Stateside buyers might need to mod out their Mercedes vans with upgraded suspension and custom interiors to suit their needs.
Eat your heart out Matt Foley, because thanks to Mercedes-Benz we now totally want to live in a van down by the river.
The German brand recently unveiled a handful of converted camper vans it plans to bring to the Caravan Salon trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany. This resulted in two reactions here at Car and Driver:
How are we just now hearing about the Caravan Salon trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany?
How long has Mercedes-Benz been depriving stateside camper-van enthusiasts of these glorious machines?
In regard to the latter question, it turns out Westfalia has been converting Mercedes-Benz vans into mobile sleeping quarters for close to four decades. Continue Reading

Mercedes AMG GT R Touches Down US
The Slick New Mercedes-AMG GT R
While we’ve seen images floating around on the internet of this beauty of a car, the viciously green GT R has made its first public appearance stateside and a new chorus of attention is rising to meet it. The car is bound to catch eyes and turn heads with the vibrant green, and with the powerful engine it’s sure to be felt as it cruises around being hardly street legal and designed with racetracks in mind. With a car like this you are bound to burn through your tires and brakes as you test the limits.
You’ve seen this car before. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R made its first official public appearance on June 24 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. You probably recognize the GT R by its impossible-to-miss color, which is called AMG Green Hell Magno (no, not mango). But this awesome AMG just made its first visit to North America in California as part of Monterey Car Week. What better reason could there be to dredge it back up to the surface with a live image gallery?
At the heart of the GT R is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 577 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. There are a host of changes versus more mundane AMG GTs to make the R worthy of its badge, all culminating in a 0-60 run of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 198 miles per hour. Continue Reading

Mercedes E-Class Protects In Case Of Nessie Attack
Cute Commercial Makes a Serious Point
Mercedes has posted some new adverts featuring a family watching for the mythical beast at Loch Ness. While the beast does not show up, the commercial explains the new safety features which activate upon detecting an oncoming crash which will protect the passengers from harm by moving them away from the impact zone.
So while your car might be totaled, you’ll live on to repair your car and drive again.
If you’re on the hunt for the Loch Ness monster, Mercedes-Benz has your back. More specifically, the Stuttgart company’s 2017 E-Class sedan and station wagon can protect your sides and your ears, should Nessie decide to charge or if the E-Class Pre-Safe features detect an imminent collision, according to Daimler.
New television commercials that Mercedes will also present on social media channels show a father and son parked by Loch Ness in Scotland, waiting for the fabled monster to appear.
While they wait, the boy watches intently from the backseat eating a sandwich while his dad nods off. The scene then switches to a disembodied, echoing voice explaining one of two new Mercedes safety features: Pre-Safe Sound and Pre-Safe Impulse Side. Continue Reading
