Mercedes AMG GT R Touches Down US

The Slick New Mercedes-AMG GT R

While we’ve seen images floating around on the internet of this beauty of a car, the viciously green GT R has made its first public appearance stateside and a new chorus of attention is rising to meet it. The car is bound to catch eyes and turn heads with the vibrant green, and with the powerful engine it’s sure to be felt as it cruises around being hardly street legal and designed with racetracks in mind. With a car like this you are bound to burn through your tires and brakes as you test the limits.

You’ve seen this car before. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R made its first official public appearance on June 24 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. You probably recognize the GT R by its impossible-to-miss color, which is called AMG Green Hell Magno (no, not mango). But this awesome AMG just made its first visit to North America in California as part of Monterey Car Week. What better reason could there be to dredge it back up to the surface with a live image gallery?

At the heart of the GT R is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 577 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. There are a host of changes versus more mundane AMG GTs to make the R worthy of its badge, all culminating in a 0-60 run of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 198 miles per hour. Continue Reading

The Sleek New Mercedes Maybach 6 Gives Us Look into Potential Future

Maybach 6 to be a Treat for Car Lovers

This mix of retro design and futuristic technology gather together in a riveting coalescence of new and old that inspires the car lover young and old. While we expect cars to improve in many ways that the Maybach 6 does not in the upcoming decade, the Maybach 6 does show some very sweet technical details we are excitedly looking forwards to.

In the meantime, love your current Mercedes engine and hold out for these sweet future cars.

Tonight in Carmel, Calif., Mercedes-Benz unveiled the latest of its Maybach line: the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6.

The gullwing 2+2 concept has a low, sleek hood, a massive touchscreen inside, and an all-electric powertrain. It’s meant to show what a Mercedes-Benz car could look like, and do, in 10 or 15 years’ time.

Named for its 6-meter length, the Mercedes-Maybach 6 is totally electric, with a massive battery pack located along the bottom of the car. The engine can achieve 750 horsepower; the car will hit 60 mph in less than four seconds. It has an automatic driving function, although Mercedes executives said it’s meant to be driven. Mercedes E-Class Protects In Case Of Nessie Attack

Cute Commercial Makes a Serious Point

Mercedes has posted some new adverts featuring a family watching for the mythical beast at Loch Ness. While the beast does not show up, the commercial explains the new safety features which activate upon detecting an oncoming crash which will protect the passengers from harm by moving them away from the impact zone.

So while your car might be totaled, you’ll live on to repair your car and drive again.

If you’re on the hunt for the Loch Ness monster, Mercedes-Benz has your back. More specifically, the Stuttgart company’s 2017 E-Class sedan and station wagon can protect your sides and your ears, should Nessie decide to charge or if the E-Class Pre-Safe features detect an imminent collision, according to Daimler.

New television commercials that Mercedes will also present on social media channels show a father and son parked by Loch Ness in Scotland, waiting for the fabled monster to appear.

While they wait, the boy watches intently from the backseat eating a sandwich while his dad nods off. The scene then switches to a disembodied, echoing voice explaining one of two new Mercedes safety features: Pre-Safe Sound and Pre-Safe Impulse Side. Continue Reading

Mercedes Street Legal Tank

Go Anywhere in this Benz – Who’s Gonna Stop You?

Mercedes have outdone their selves with the new Maybach S600 Limousine with safety and luxury features that will redefine what it means to be a top of the line stretch limousine. But for those who need the most premium protection on the market a Canadian after market upgrade service has released a chassis upgrade that makes the Maybach S600 into the heaviest and swankiest bullet proof car around.

Over the past 100 years, Mercedes-Benz has earned quite a reputation for building some of the toughest and most solidly engineered cars in the world. Sitting at the top of Mercedes’ lineup is the massive Mercedes-Maybach S600 limo.

The 5,300-pound luxury sedan offers more performance and safety than most people in the world would ever need. But there are a select few who need more protection than crumple zones and a lot of airbags. They need to stop bombs and bullets. They need armor.

For these Mercedes-Maybach owners, Canada’s Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing has come up with a Maybach that can offer some “extra protection.” Continue Reading

Is Cadillac Taking the 2016 CT6 too Big?

Cadillac CT6 Made Luxury (too) Big

At $55,000 MSRP, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 feels like it is a little more midrange than the luxury label that the brand pushes, but that doesn’t detract in any way from how impressive the car really is. More so than any other feature the car offers, it’s the size that makes this sedan worth looking into.

If Cadillac was looking to make a big splash with this year’s CT6, they certainly made one. Not necessarily from what the car offers, but more along the lines of its huge size would literally make a huge splash in a pool of water. It’s interesting that all the press photos for the car are in downtown environments considering you’d never be able to parallel park this beast, much less ever find a spot that actually fits its massive length and girth.

It’s things like this why I stick to my Benz and fix my normal-human sized Mercedes interior should I ever have to.

For years, Cadillac was the car you bought when you wanted something big and prestigious – the “standard of the world,” as it billed itself.

But in recent years, other luxury brands, particularly those from Europe, have garnered “must-have” status for many buyers instead.

Now, Cadillac is in the middle of trying for a big comeback, literally, with their new big car, the 2016 CT6.

For its starting price of about $55,000, the CT6 offers plenty of luxury, plenty of space inside, and plenty of technology. A variety of available engines are offered, and there’s an important element for cars in this class: rear-wheel drive. Continue Reading

Arlington Woman Test Drives Mercedes SUV Into Own Car

How Not to Take a Test Drive

As shocking as it sounds, a woman in Arlington, Virginia has caused a rather impressive, but fortunately 0-casualty, 5-car accident while when test driving a new Mercedes SUV in the Mercedes parking lot she suddenly accelerated into 4 other vehicles including her own personal car, and then over-corrected away from the crash flipping the dealership’s SUV onto its side.

The woman is currently nursing her wallet and pride after having the extensive damage to multiple vehicles Bodies, especially the test vehicles.

There’s a terrible stereotype that women aren’t exactly the best drivers, and one incident that took place last Friday certainly isn’t helping to dispel it.

While taking a Mercedes-Benz SUV out for a spin at a dealership in Arlington, Virginia, a woman suddenly accelerated the brand new vehicle, striking four other cars — one of which was her own.

In a panic, she then proceeded to turn the wheel at such a sharp angle that the car ended up flipping onto its side, according to WRC. Continue Reading

Mercedes Gives Rights to E Class to Chinese BAIC

Benz Expands Further into China with E-Class Deal

The Chinese auto maker which Mercedes has taken 12% ownership of has received a heft gift from the German auto-maker which includes design and production rights to the Mercedes E-Class Sedan making BAIC the first Chinese auto maker to produce luxury sedans for the market.

While this will likely be unfelt around the rest of the world other than seeing Mercedes stock continue up in value, it does show a grand expansion of the Chinese auto industry in recent years.

For US patrons who are seeking to fix up a Mercedes Benz, click here and get that baby polished like new.

Daimler AG is giving China’s BAIC Motor Group permission to build cars using old Mercedes-Benz E-class designs and components, part of the German car maker’s effort to strengthen ties with its local partner in a country where its sales are rapidly growing.

The transfer of the outdated platform, essentially a shared basic chassis and design among vehicle models, clears the way for BAIC to become the first Chinese car maker to develop its own luxury vehicles. It will base its designs on the old Mercedes E Class.

Hubertus Troska, head of Daimler Greater China, said Monday that the transfer of the platform is part of an agreement the company and BAIC Motor Group made three years ago when Daimler bought a 12% stake in the Chinese state-run auto maker. Continue Reading

Mercedes Shoots Down Their Own Self Driving Bus

Mercedes Moving Ever Faster to the Future

Mercedes has once again made some crucial clarifying statements in regards to its self driving vehicles. Despite the Mercedes Future Bus passing its first long distance trip without driver assistance, Mercedes has clarified that they do not intend to have fully self driving vehicles, not just because it is illegal, but because they want this technology to go to helping current bus drivers rather than putting them out of a job.

It seems Mercedes wants to make driving an enjoyable and relaxing experience again for their customers. With that in mind, you should click here and see about upgrading your comfort.

Mercedes-Benz wants to completely change your bus-riding experience.

In July, the auto company unveiled its vision for the aptly named Future Bus — a semiautonomous bus that successfully completed a 12-mile route that included traffic lights, tunnels, and navigating around pedestrians.

To create the Future Bus, Mercedes built upon its platform for autonomous trucks to create a system optimized for buses dubbed City Pilot. It uses camera systems, radar sensors, and GPS to navigate safely.

But even though the Future Bus has autonomous features, Mercedes does not plan on releasing a fully driverless Future Bus. Continue Reading

Mercedes Gives Full Unveil Of Mercedes-Maybach 6

The Mercedes-Maybach is a True Stunner

It is probably one of the sexiest renditions of a classic car we have ever seen.

The Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a gorgeous blend of modern and classic design elements that gives this Maybach a classy refined appearance while being modernized in many ways that makes it sleek which is accented even by its long form which puts a whole lot of room to stuff a huge powerful Mercedes Engine under that hood.

Mercedes-Maybach gave us a sneak preview of the incredible all-electric 738-horsepower Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe concept at Monterey Car Week, and it’s a beauty.

Although they were stingy with images of the actual car, we rounded up some photos of the electric-powered concept in the metal, rather than the widely-revealed computer renderings you might have seen elsewhere.

The Vision 6 has got impressive power, vaulting from 6 to 62 mph in less than 4.0 seconds (that’s a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds or better) and to a limited top speed of 155 mph. Continue Reading
